Legal Question in Social Security Law in New York

Social Security and LIfe insurance

My father recently passed away . It was just found out that my mother and grandmother are beneficiaries on his life insurance policy. My mother waived all rights to insurance during their divorce in 2002. My grandmother is currently in a nursing home and on Social Security. Do you know if my grandmother can move/will/give the money to me without being penalized in anyway since she is on Social Security? My father was also married when he died but his new wife is not listed on any paperwork. Does she have right any of this money? Please help

Re: Social Security and LIfe insurance

A lot depends on whether or not your father had a will. How is your mother's care being taken care of. These are some of the questions that need to be answered before I can give a better opinion.

Please give me a call so that we can discuss this matter further.
