Legal Question in Disability Law in North Carolina

My son is off his meds for bipolar because of side effects (tardive dyskinesia) that they caused. His behavior has changed due to this. The coach is now removing him from the lacrosse team because he says he irritates the others boys.

They pick on him because he is different. I have explained the med issues, but the coach said it would be easier if he were not on the team. Best for everyone.

Is this discrimination? He does have a IEP, other impaired.

Yes, stand up for his rights, insisit that he be on the team, and get him better medication. There are dozens of medication optios, so find the ones that will work. He needs the sports to get rid of teenage energy and to have team companionship and he will be harder for you to handle without.
