Legal Question in Business Law in North Carolina

I had my contract at at a salon was not renewed and i started working for myself... The previous salon has pictures of my work on their website. They do not say that the work was done by me. i have asked them to take them down and they wont. Can they do this?

The owner has also spread lies and said I attacked her. i really believe this has affected some people following me ti my new location. Can I do anything about any of this?

As a Franchise Attorney I can only say the following. Regarding the pictures of your work - this depends on a couple factors. First, who took the pictures? This person presumably owns the copyright to the pictures. Second, did you give your consent to having the pictures taken? And remember, consent can be express or implied. If you can prove the owner lied about you, this is slander and is a cause for bringing a lawsuit. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for a full review of all facts and for specific advice.
