webspace lease

I lease webspace as a sole proprieship. I do not manage or post information on these accounts that I lease Am I responsibke for content posted if it is deemed defamotory? Thank You for your time.

As I write at 1940 EST from New Jersey, probably not if you don't screen the content. (Imagine that. You might be more liable if you actually pay attention to your business than if you don't.)

That assumes that the suit is brought in New Jersey or in the 3rd Federal District.

However, you can't rely on this advice, in part because I did not check what happened this afternoon and I don't know what the courts of the State of ____ did this PM.

My point is that everything having to do with the Internet is volatile including the law. If you have any exposure to liability, you are well advised to protect yourself as best you can. In this case, it would be far better for you to be in some business for that limits your liability.
