Legal Question in Constitutional Law in North Carolina

unsigned citation

I recently received a citation for drinking underage and proceeding hours later to operate a vehicle. When I was given the citation I was not asked to sign the form. How does this affect the authenticity of the citation? Is the citation void because it has not been signed by myself, the defendant, or can it still be used in court?

Re: unsigned citation

If not signing a citation invalidated it, then people could win their cases by simply refusing to sign. It doesn't work that way. This is why you can be ticketed for a parking violation; the ticket is the citation, and very few people are around to sign a parking ticket when it is issued.

Re: unsigned citation

the citation is probably not invalidated because you did not sign it.
