Legal Question in Consumer Law in North Carolina

I boarded my dog at a kennel and went on vacation. Before we even got to the beach we were notified that the kennel had lost our dog. As of yet he has not been found. We have also learned that several other dogs have gotten away from this kennelDo I have any legal recourse to sue for the loss of my dog and having to come back from vacation to look for him?

You probably do have a claim based on these facts. The claim can be veiwed as "negligence" or "bailment." A kennel may also have some sort of "waiver" or other limitation. Another problem in these cases is valuing an animal. Valuing your lost time is also difficult in this type of case. An expert on animal law in NC can be found here: http://www.animallawnc.com/.
