Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

What will happen if my husband is unable to attend court for a civil case where he is being sued for debt? He has had a mental breakdown and is to unstable to attend court. We can not afford an attorney what can i do?

What is the civil case? If for a credit card debt, then nothing, provided that your husband owes the debt and has no valid defenses. He will have to pay attention when he gets a motion to claim exempt property and notice of rights though.
