Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

MY wife was "raped" anally when she was 12 by a male "baby sitter" who was over 18 at the time. this was 13 years ago in north carolina. she has suffered greatly and still does with many mental side effects of this. could she pursue legal action?, if so what would the chances be of punishing this man if found guilty?

the only point in pursuing legal action, other than criminal action, is to sue for damages...if the guy has no money, there is really no chance to get anything...however, if he owns property or has money, then it is possible...years ago, i representd a 30+ guy who sued a man who was in his 50's over acts that occurred between them when my client was a child...we were able to resolve that matter successfully...good luck
