Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Child support and homeschooling

I wrote before. My ex is taking me back to court because he adopted his wifes child. I just put my son in homeschool because he was having problems and he is in 11th grade and didnt have much time to make things up. He has constantly struggled in school. He is in homeschool and doing great! My question is, can I ask the judge to take into consideration the cost of homeschool(I bring him to a certified teacher) when redoing the support? He claims he shouldnt have to pay for it because he was never involved in the decision(he hasnt seen his son for 8 months and states he wont see him until he is 18 because he hates me, even for the benefit of my son)It was a decision I had to make and I dont ever get any support from him. Thanks

Re: Child support and homeschooling

Extraordinary expenses can be considered under the child support guidelines. You can ask that the homeschooling expenses be included but you are probably going to have to show they are necessary. Very difficult to show the public school system can't meet your child's needs.
