Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

My childs mother was involved with drugs and shady characters so I took my son away from the home in june of 2016 she stopped contacting me by July. Then in December she saw me (without my son) at a Walmart and assaulted me. I pressed charges and she went to jail for a day. She contacted me once in December asking for him back. Well it is now July 2017 and she has no contacted me any more since December. Can I get her parental rights terminated for abandonment?

It sounds like you took the child away and presumably did not tell the mother where the child is or allow the mother to see the child and you now want to call that abandonment and have her parental rights terminated? If that's the long and short of it, I'd likely have done far more than merely assault you. Anyhoo, to terminate her rights you will need to serve her with the petition and then prove grounds for termination. You will likely need an attorney.
