is it considered kidnapping if you take the kids from nc to fl to get family help

It can be. Depends on the type of custody you have. Generally, you would be required to get the consent of the other parent to take children across state lines or you could find yourself in a heap of trouble. Of course, if you do need the consent of the other parent - don't rely on just their word! Get it in writing even if its just scrawled on a napkin from Burger King. Best of Luck!
