Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

illegal to lie on marriage license application?

Is it illegal to lie on a marriage license application in NC? I just discovered my husband who told me he had only been married once before was married at least a second time. Is this grounds to have our marriage voided/annulled?

Thank you.

Re: illegal to lie on marriage license application?

Only if he is still married to one and married to you at the same time. Yes, it is illegal to lie on the application. However, this alone, is generally not regarded as a voidable marriage. You can always separate for a year and then obtain a divorce.
