Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Hi my mother was married too my step dad they had a baby togeter and they got a divorce. My ex step dad got custody of my brother and now we are not allowed to see him. It's been at least five years since we've seen him. He is now 13. I recently contacted him via Facebook where he said "I am not allowed to talk to you or I will get into trouble" is there anyway I could request visitation rights.? I think it is very wrong to keep him away from his sister.

Unless he has a legitimate reason for not allowing you to visit with your brother, there isn't a word in the English language that would accurate describe what a low, worthless piece of crap your ex step-father is. Again, unless he has a legitimate reason, you are absolutely right that it is wrong for him to deny visitation. However, it may not be illegal. You mother for sure has standing to seek visitation rights which would include you. However, I am uncertain if you alone could seek visitation - you and your mother should contact a family law attorney ASAP.
