Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

I'm a single mother of 4 children living in North Carolina. I'm currently between jobs & the landlord whom own the residence which I'm at with my kids is helping me out by not charging me rent. A baby daddy of 2 of my children went to school with my landlord & lied saying he would pay the bills of my residence to the landlord so he could sneak his way into our lives. The baby daddy doesn't have a job & never intended to pay the bills. He picks the lock on my door to my room & breaks into my room at night while I sleep going through my phone to see who I am talking to, he threatens me & broke my neck in a fight years ago which I never called the police on him for because I just want him out of my life & he continues to get hostile towards the kids at times now because I don't want to be in a relationship with him asides from him being a dad to his kids. I use what little money I have on the house for food & supplies. Last night he threw me out of the house without my kids because I refused to make him dinner & declared to me he was going to burn all my clothes & destroy my personal belongings which I have had there before he made his way into the house. I want my kids & our stuff & ideally I want him out & far away from us but he too has no job nor a place to go, yet our safety from him & a roof over our heads is the most important thing to me.

What legal rights do I have right now to protect myself & my kids & what little possessions we have from him?

Please help me

Thank you
