Animal Death due to Crulty

What is the law pertaining to the death of an animal from a act of crulty. (ie: kicking an animal so hard into a wall it died.)

You can instigate an action both in the criminal and civil contexts against the wrongdoer. Animals are treated like "property" in the civil context, just as if the person wrecked your car or other possession. Please consult a local attorney if you wish to pursue the civil claim.
