Legal Question in Civil Litigation in North Carolina

What can we do against someone who falsely used our phone number in advertisements?

Someone has printed 15000 business cards with our personal phone number (they transposed 2 numbers) and have spread them across 6 states. We are getting 50-100 calls a day from immigrants looking for "drivers license course". I was contacted by the person who made the error so I have his name and contact information. We have had this phone number for sometime, and it would cause us great effort to change our number. do we have any legal recourse against him for harassment or invasion of privacy?

You could hire an attorney to research this issue but off the top of my head, I doubt that this would rise to a level of harassment or invasion of privacy and even if you found an appropriate cause of action, I doubt it would be cost effective to bring a lawsuit.

While one can certainly sympathize with you - you wrote nothing to suggest that this is anything more than a terrible mistake. In fact, whoever is running the business is probably equally as upset since he is probably losing tons of business. I would suggest changing your phone number or working out something with him where he compensates you and you provide his contact information to the callers.
