Legal Question in Employment Law in North Carolina

My employer deducted a uniform deposit from my wages in 2007 and has held it for six years. I have recently separated from my company and they paid back the deposit but no interest and it is counting towards my wages for this year. Is my employer responsible for payment of interest and why is this repayment counting as wages again 6 years later after I already claimed the amount as wages in 2007?

It should not be counted as wages, but if it is really worth it to you, then you should see a tax professional with assistance as you should not manually edit the forms or exclude the amount.

As for interest, unless you have a signed agreement which entitled you to interest, you are not entitled to an interest payment of your deposit.
