Legal Question in Employment Law in North Carolina

My employer makes us deduct an hour for travel everyday even though I drive a service truck carrying parts to do service calls. Sometimes the job is only 1510 minutes from my home. Is that legal in North Carolina

It is not legal for an employer to tell you to deduct time that you actually work. Now, if you take your vehicle home and instead of going to the office some days, you go straight to a job, then you would not get paid the time that you would normally drive to work, but you get the difference.

You should speak to HR and calmly explain your concerns and see what answer they give you. IF still not satisfied, speak to the NC Department of Labor Wage Bureau
