Legal Question in Employment Law in North Carolina

Suddenly terminated from position

My husband was very suddenly fired from a 20 year managerial position with a large collision repair service, with very little explaination and no compensation. I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to discuss this matter with an attorney. And what type of lawyer to contact. Thank you.

Re: Suddenly terminated from position

The sad news is that in NC, there's no right to even get an explanation or severance pay when you get fired. Now, if he had proof that he was fired due to discrimination or retaliation for something (like having a worker's comp injury), there might be something worth consulting an employment lawyer about. Most employment lawyers do charge for a consultation. Since he was fired, he can apply for unemployment. Best wishes, and feel free to contact me should you desire a consultation.
