Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina

I moved to a New Senior Community 55 and up 8/13. Affordable Housing Programs Tax Credits, under the NC Housing Finance Agency. At the time ,I had no job . When application was taken ,I was told to get my son to sign a paper that he contributed $1000.00 a month . Could not make over $24,000 a yr. My rent is $495.00 a month. Just work odd jobs, cleaning vacant apartments. The Site Manager at community told me that based on calculations that I should be paying $410.00.She also told me that manager that took applications ,told her she felt bad because she made mistake because I didn't have a job. Ask if it could be changed , she said I would have to move

to different apartment, which made No sense!!!! Apartments are managed by a company in Char.,NC. From day one, I continue to ask Site Manager how rent was figured because I knew it wasn't RIGHT. Is there anything I can do??

Thank You
