How do i get my security deposit back after more than 2 months? i live in charlotte, nc . i moved out of my apt on 9/30/2014. on that day i returned my keys to the management ofice and asked when i would receive my security deposit . i was told that it would take 45 business day before i would receive it. i left a forwarding address. i called them on november 13,2014 to find out it the status of deposit.and told that it would take 45 business day . i left my forwarding address for the second time. it has been more than 2 months and i have not receive my deposit.

You can sue in small claims court for it. The landlord is required to give you the deposit or a list of how it was used within 30 days after moving out...they can request another 30 days...but if they fail to do either, they automatically waive the right to keep it.
