Legal Question in Legal Ethics in North Carolina

I play a sport for a NCAA Division 2 school Recently, my athletic director has discussed my personal and legal matters with some parents of my teammates without my knowledge. I only found this out due to the parents confronting me on my personal and legal life. I am 22 years old. This surely cannot be legal, correct?
