How to document satisfaction of promissory note?

My husband and I have completed paying a note (paid in full)to his parents, and now we need to document satisfation (or release?) of the note. The note was for partial payment of a home but it is unsecured. How is this done?

An attorney should be able to draft a document showing that it was paid. However, if there are deed issues involved then you're dealing with recording issues as well.
