Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

Who owns the property??? Who is listed as the owner on the deed? If the church stops doing business and the church owns the property, assets of the church are liquidated (sold) and the money is distributed to the people who formed the church. If a person owned the land but let the church be on it but still retained ownership then the person still owns the land.
