Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in North Carolina

what are my rights

my niece made herself power of attoney ,over my mom's assets, she has changed all her accounts over to her name , sold the house and everything that was in it , had her placed in a rest home.

i do not have a clue what was in the bank , save deposit box, how much the house was sold for , things i should have inherited are gone, do i have any rights on knowing things , after my mom passes away.

also she told me she was paying herself for taking care of this for my mom.

thanks

bobby

Re: what are my rights

You can petition the probate court in the county of the residence of your mother to be appointed as her guardian. You should consult with a local attorney for more info.

Re: what are my rights

You are entitled to information assuming that your mother is in North Carolina. You can institute a guardianship proceeding and demand an accounting.
