Legal Question in Workers Comp in North Carolina

I am 61 3/4. I had a knee injury in Sept. and have been our on WC since. My company has offered select employees a special early package to retire. Would accepting the offer interfere with my WC or would the offer have to wait until after my injury is healed?

Normally, the decision to retire does not affect your rights to ongoing workers compensation temporary total disability (TTD) benefits. However, when you reach maximum medical improvement and are released to return to work, you will have the burden to prove you remain disabled or benefits may be stopped. You should consult with an experienced workers comp specialist. Good luck, George Lennon
