Short answer is yes. If you had a relatively normal pregnancy and then had problems during labor resulting in an emergency c-section the labor and delivery records, fetal monitoring strips and the newborn records are very important. I am sorry to hear about your son's problems. I need more information before I can answer your questions. Has your son been diagnosed with a specific condition? Is he considered to be suffering from PPDD (pervasive developmental disorder) such as autism? Age 3 to 4, especially for boys, is when this diagnosis can usually be made.

I have dealt with a number of birth cases where the child ends up with cerebral palsey because of inadequate oxygen or some other problem prior to or during birth. If your son has CP, this could be related to a problem during his birth.

There are a number of other develpomental problems that are associated with birth trauma or other related problems. Anyone who offers to assist you in your efforts will need more specific information regarding the issues that you and your son are dealing with.
