Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Discovery Requests

I am disputing a speeding ticket in the state of ohio and need to file a discovery request for a few items regarding the offense, such as the officers log, front/back of his ticket, information of the laser device used, and the officers training records on that equipment. What format do I need to present this request in? Is there a standard format used to make these requests or do I just draft a letter requesting the information?

How to get discovery in a traffic case

Draft a letter spelling out al the things you want and deliver that letter to the prosecutor's office. Have a copy of the letter with youand have the receptionist in the prosecutor'soffice put a "received" stamp on your copy.Give the prosecutor 10 days to respond. If(s)he doesn't respond, you must file a motionto compel discovery with your copy attached. You should be able to find forms you need in any law library and any large public library. Look under "criminal law, forms."

Every Ohio county has a public law libraryin the court house.
