Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Post Felony Expungement Options

I am a college educated individual with three degrees(2 undergrad,1 masters).I plead no contest for a felony (possession of nude photos of a minor). I was a school teacher. If this offense is able to be enpunged, will I have the options of teaching in another state? Also, what other options may be available? Is serving as a police officer out of the question? How does the expungement process work? Does it really seal the offense so that no one can look at it? Or will it always be there? I landed a very good job as a warehouse manage at a beer distributor, but would seriously like to get back into the teaching field again some day if it is a possibility. Any help to this question would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Post Felony Expungement Options

I would need to research the issue. I do not know if your charge can be expunged without looking into it further. Generally, sexually related offenses cannot be expunged. If it can be expunged, then, for all practical purposes, if you applied for a job, you can say you have no criminal record. I do not know if you will be able to teach again or not. That is not really a "legal" question I can answer. If your record can be expunged, I do not see why you would not be able to teach again.
