Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

I have never had any trouble with the law. I'm a 31 yr old female with a husband and two young daughters. I'm an air traffic controller with the federal government and I hold a secret security clearance. In April, I wrote a check to a local grocery store for $24.56. In the meantime, I went for a routine checkup since I was 15 wks pregnant. I learned I had lost the baby. The last thing on my mind was finances. I was in the hospital for a few days after the surgery. I didn't check my bank account, balance my checkbook. Nothing. I was concerned for my Health and my other two children. I had no clue the check came bank NSF. I wasn't paying attention. We moved in February and this took place in April. I never thought to update the address on my checks to reflect the change. I was only concerned with using up the old before buying new. So they only had my old address on file and that's why I assume I never received any notification that the check had bounced. On August 8, a village police officer showed up at my house to arrest me. He didn't thank goodness but I'm still in shock. This is unchartered territory for me. I immediately went down to the grocery store and paid the check and the associated fee and got a receipt. My court date is in two days. I do t know what to do or expect and I'm terrified of losing my job over this! The documents say it's a misdemeanor in the 1st degree. What should I do from here and is there any chance this will get dismissed?

There are two parts to a crime. The criminal act and the criminal intent. You did not have criminal intent and therefore a complete defense to the charge. Get a good lawyer
