Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Changing the racial heritage listed on one's birth certificate

I am interested in the possibility of changing the racial heritage listed on my birth certificate.I was born to an unmarried, caucasian mom and have no father listed on my birth certificate. My mom has always acknowledged,to methat my dad is hispanic and she didn't want to list that on my birth certificate. She now agrees that it was probably not the best thing to do by labeling me as caucasian. It seems unfair that I am unable to claim my heritage as hispanic even though I am of that background on my paternal side.I would like to just begin listing my race as hispanic on tests and things for school, but my school guidance counselor said I would have to check with a lawyer and probably change the info. on my birth cert. first. What can people do if I just begin checking hispanic rather than caucasian on my test forms and college admission papers??I am currently a junior in high school and would have greater chances of college scholarships and opportunities if my actual heritage was listed rather than what my mom decided to list on my birth certificate years ago.My mom is writing this with me and agrees with my opinion now, but we have no idea of how to proceed to rectify this mistake.Any advice???
