Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Child Support

My daugher is 13 the boy who got her pregnant is 16. Can he be made pay child support when the baby is born in July since he is under 18 and are there any laws that would require him to help her with medical bills, schooling and clothes before the baby is born? In short is there anything that he can be held responsible for at this point?

Re: Child Support

Once paternity is formally established, he can be held responsible through the Courts and if your daughter is on welfare for the benefit of the child, then welfare will enforce the collection of child support.

Good luck!!!

Re: Child Support

Prior to a conclusive determination of paternity, a court is not going to order a putative father to do anything. Even if a child support order is established, that on;y affects child support after the birth. Stuff prior to the birth will only be ordered if it is determined as to be part of public assistance that would have to be repaid by the father.
