Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

custody of twelve year old

I was divorced in 2000 and was given sole custody of the children.Recently my oldest started Junior High School. I live in one district and my ex lives in another. He suggested we use his address to send her to school in his district. I said that it was o.k.. He has since went and filed a motion and they awarded him temporary custody of her.I took the children out of that situation because he was very abusive.I have done everything in my power to give these children everything that they have needed. It is set up now to where he gets her for a week and I then get her for a week. How does a referee give custody to a man that was never around when they were little and was physically abusive? We went in front of a mediator that seemed to only listen to him. She would cut me off every time I tried to speak. I dont think I was given a fair shake and Don't have the money to keep fighting him. Now he won't even let me see her for my four hours during the week. Pleae help me! I need to have my daughter back with me.

Re: custody of twelve year old

Mediation is not necessarily binding but it is the least confrontational method when it works. This needs to get taken back to Court.
