Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

financial responsibility

I am looking at a divorce situation and need to know if I am responsible for my husbands debts. We dont have any bills or other debt with both names, not even a joint checking account. He has his own bills and I have mine. I own the home we live in and it's in my name only. He just started his own business and is racking up alot of debt on credit cards and loans. I have not signed anything for this business and I am not on his credit cards. If this business fell apart would I still be partially responsible because I'm married to him? Am I responsible for any debt he incurred on his own? We have been married for almost 10 years. Thank you.

Re: financial responsibility

I usually try to give a written answer; however, your short email poses a ton of potential outcomes. You are both right and wrong in you assumptions as to what will happen. I do not have the time to write it all down here. Please give me a call at 440.835.8200 and I will give you a free telephone consultation. It will take less time than typing my thoughts here. Please mentioned that I emailed you to call to my receptionist so you call does not get misdirected. Steve
