Tax Deductions and Child Support

I was recently told that if I was to have one of my two sons as a deduction on my taxes that the amount of child support I receive would be reduced. I have never heard this before and wondered if that was a true statement.

The child tax deductions are already figured into your child support calculations. If you gain a child that will affect the amount, but I can;t tell you specifics without numbers.

Having one of the exemptions will affect the amount of child support owed. Te Summit County Domestic Relations Web site has a child support computation program.
