Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

visitation and child custody legal time frame ie...from start to finish

I'm currently in the U.S. Army stationed in Virginia and have a infant daughter, out of wedlock in Ohio. Child support paper work was resently submitted along with have a paternity test done. Also, my name is on the birth certificate. My problem is that I'm unable to go to Ohio very often and my last attempt to see my daughter in Ohio was unsuccessful, due to the mother telling me I need to get visitation rights. My goal is for my daughter to grow up knowing who I am and I'm afraid that seeking visitation and custody rights will take months to get. I have'nt seen my daughter in 8 months. Please help.

You need to see an Ohio lawyer and pronto. As the child's state of residence only Ohio has jurisdiction.

As a general proposition in just about any state, the longer you wait the harder it will be to establish visitation. If you start right away, you will have more success and courts generally are sympathetic to such visitation requests.
