Ex demanding money

While we were together, my ex helped me out with some bills for a few months while I was not working. We broke up a year ago and now he is demanding that I re-pay him. Is there any legal basis to his claim?

Sure sounds like a gift to me. He has to show that the money was a loan and that you intended to repay the money back.
