Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Ohio

For the past month our breaker to our apartment has been tripping easily. We have no access to our breaker box it is under lock and key and only the apartment manager and landlord have a key. Neither

reside in our building. We have left several voicemails and text messages and are getting no response. If this continues can we move and with hold the rent?

Yes...and No. While I can't give you legal advice, there are some very specific steps that you must take in order to protect yourself against being sued for eviction and breach of your lease agreement. It is important that you do more than just send text messages and leave voicemails. Send a certified letter to your landlord at the address you've been given. Ask the landlord to remedy the situation within a reasonable time frame (generally 30 days). Should the landlord fail to remedy the situation within that time frame and you do then move out, you'll be better protected from a lawsuit.
