Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

Foreclosure sale

I am scheduled for a sheriffs sale on my home. I just want to know what happens after that date. Especially how long we will have to move out. We filed for bankrupcy last year but kept our home after I got laid off. But couldn't afford the payments on a lower salary.

Re: Foreclosure sale

Dear Foreclosure Sale Owner,

Contact the Office of the Sheriff of the County where your property is located. They will advise you of the timelines and procedures for and after sale.

You should be prepared to vacate and leave the property completely within seven to ten days after the sale, since upon certification and transfer of title to the successful bidder, they may wish to change all of the locks and secure the property. If you haven't moved out, they'll have the Sheriff move you out forcibly and place your things on the tree lawn.

To avoid these unpleasant, but lawful events, contact the Sheriff's office, ask many questions, and be prepared.

Good luck and Godspeed.

Sincerely, J. Norman Stark.
