Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

new home buying

We met with a builder and we put 500.00 down on a lot and a design. We did not go to the design center. Our house has not sold and they are saying too bad you need to build it any way. We did give them 500 and sign papers staing we would buy it but we can't afford it now and they are not willing to work with us.
