Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

Can interest be charged on association dues before a judgement is rendered

I have a pending law suit for the last several years concerning dues from a association type homes. The Defenants are charging interest before judgement is obtained.

Question: In back assesments in which i claim i do not owe that is up to 40 to 50 thousand dollars with all there compounded interest is is legal to charge interest before judgement. When I take my renters to court interest can only be charged on the day of judgement. And where do i find the presidence on such matters.

Normally, if the amount due is certain, interest may run from the time that the debt becomes due. If the amount of the debt is uncertain or unliquidated, then interest usually runs from judgment date. The complaint should state that interest should accrue from a date certain. In a landlord tenant situation, that date may be the date that the tenants started to hold over.
