Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Deceased Person's Property

My mother passed away. At the funeral, my father promised me some things which I did not take. My sister went into the house and cleaned out all my mothers possessions and did not tell anyone. My mother had some jewelry and things that we gave to her.The will was already probated and nothing was mentioned about her personal possessions. I have contacted my sister, but am not getting any thing of my mothers and can't even find out where her things went. What are my options?

Re: Deceased Person's Property

Your father has the authority to divide up what your mother had. Your father should confront the sister and let him fight it out or else drop it.

You are constrained by what is in your mother's will. If your father received the residual of her estate, he could give what he wanted to whomever he wanted.
