Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

If I undergo a legal name change, my birth state simply appends my birth certificate with the new name. If I subsequently receive a bequest under my birth name -- or, even simpler, if someone writes a check to me payable to my birth name -- will I be able to claim/cash it, with appropriate ID? Thank you.

Hello,

Yes you would be able to do it if you have your old birth certificate and ID.
