Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Oklahoma

Civil Complaint

In the process of qualifying for a loan, our credit report shows a Civil Complaint that was filed 4/94. We do not recall ever receiving notification of this Civil Complaint. Shouldn't we have been served? What course of action should we pursue to get this removed from our credit report?

Thanks...

Re: Civil Complaint

Generally, civil lawsuits are matters of public record. If the report indicates what county the case was allegedly in, you can go to that courthouse and the court clerk's office can locate the file if one exists. If you are not sure what county the case was allegedly in, check the county or counties where you have lived. If you find that you have been sued, you should consult a lawyer immediately to find out how to proceed.
