Legal Question in Medical Leave in Oklahoma

fired while on FMLA

I was on FMLA for a hernia repair surgery. While off I was contacted my my employer and told they would have to let me go because I didnt work enough hours over the last year to qualify for FMLA and that I had used all of my sick leave time. I was not on workers comp and that this injury did come as a result of on the job. Im an EMT. I do think thats why they fired me. I was assured many times over two weeks period that my job was safe and that they was just following procedure. After I get a full release from my Dr, I could come back to work, no problem. After i got my release the story then changed,. My director said that he had to have a meeing with his superiors and see if they would allow me to return back to my job. I then contacted my HR director, whom told me a completely different story. She said I would have to fill out another application and be interviewed again. Which I di because i trusted these people. I worked here for 8 yrs. After jumping through all their hoops and being interviewed, I was called and told because I had a NO-Call, No-Show last year in September they would not rehire me..I cant find a lawyer to help me. What can i do?

Re: fired while on FMLA

You might consider going to either the U.S. Dept. of Labor, or the Okla. Dept. of Labor to see if they have some suggestion. The DOL handles FMLA issues.
