Legal Question in DUI Law in Oregon

DUI in Idaho, Oregon License

I received a DUI in Idaho. I have an Oregon drivers license & I have moved to Washington. Idaho released my license early this last summer. Oregon has now just suspended my license when I moved back to Washington. How do I get my license released. Also I have a son who lives in Washington, who is ready to get his permit so he can take drivers ed. Washington will not let him get one because I do not have a Washington Drivers Licesnse. What can I do from here?

Re: DUI in Idaho, Oregon License

Dear Heidi,

You'll need to contact the Oregon DOL and see what is the basis for their suspension. Often in a DUI case it is either a mandatory suspension period or a treatment requirement that needs satisfied. If the later, there are numerous treatment centers in the State of Washington.

As to the driver's ed., I'm very sorry to hear that and wasn't aware of that rule. Perhaps the school district can give you some guidance as to another adult or guardian who can be licensed in lieu of you.
