Legal Question in Immigration Law in Oregon

I believe that me and my husband are being descriminated against with USCIS Department. I have received accurate information, but one agent who has our paperwork is mean and nasty and I believe is giving me false information regarding my husbands application status. We were told that it would be 30 days from prior agents that work for that gov dept and I was asking about the status of our case. He was extremely rude and said it would take 5 months or longer. I believe its because my husband is Algerian and Muslim. Please advise what to do so me and my husband can travel back to the USA together. I am a US citizen currently visiting Algeria for the last 5 months. We are both decent citizens with an impecable background. The agent said it would not be a problem getting approved, but said it would take 6 months or longer. 3 other agents before him said our case would take 30 days only. I believe this particular agent has an issue with an American woman marrying an arabic Muslim man and is making it very difficult for us to get what we need. Please advise what I can do about this issue.

If you are applying for an immigrant visa with the U.S. State Department (at the U.S. Consulate abroad), there could be a longer wait-time for background & security checks for persons from certain countries. There is really nothing you can do about that, other than contact your local Congressperson's office & see if they will/can assist you with your case. Most of the time they are unwilling or unable to do so, though.
