no will

my dad died no will was done he only has a car and the lein holder is holding the title because they no he has passed on i need to know what I can do to let them release the title of the car

In order to get the lien holder to release the title, you will need to pay off whatever is still owing to the lien holder. They are not required to release the title until they are paid in full.

DMV has a form to allow the heirs to "claim" the car and transfer the registration to one or more of their names. This does not require that the lien holder be paid off, but, if the lien holder is not paid, they can repossess the car.
