Legal Question in Construction Law in Pennsylvania

Maranda Rights

I was placed in hand cuffs earlier tonight and I was not read my maranda rights or told why I was being arrested when I asked the officers. The officer attempted to quote me on something that I supposedly said, and I told him that it wasn't what I had said (a totally different thing in fact he had said). He then asked me if I was calling him a liar (I wouldn't lie to a cop), so I told him ''I guess I would be then.'' He then said since you're calling me a liar you are under arrest. I am most positively sure that my rights should have been read to me. I was placed in the car, frisked, and the whole nine yards. Am I correct on my behalf?

Re: Maranda Rights

Were you ever told what, if anything, you were charged with? Whether officers had to read you your Miranda rights depends on what they were doing, and what you were arrested for.

In addition, you cannot be arrested for calling a police officer a liar. That is a clear violation of your rights if that is, in fact, true.
