Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

I financed a used car on 10/25/2014. I want to return the car immediately. The seller of car lot at JD RIDER says I cannot. Is there a law says I can?

There is no right of cancellation for a car purchase. Once you buy it, its yours.

So if you return the car, it will then be treated as a repossession - there is no difference on your credit report between a voluntary surrender and an involuntary one - they are both repossessions.

The cancellation rule generally only applies to in-home sales.

That all said, there are things you can do. Why do you wish to return the car? Did you get approved for financing? Will the dealer let you trade for another car? Failing that, will another dealer take the car and sell you one?

If there is something wrong with the car or the dealer somehow violated the law, then you may have some leverage to get the deal mutually rescinded. If you were spotted a car, then hope you don't get approved for financing by the lender and in that case then you can return the car if no other lender will finance you. If there is nothing wrong with the car and its not a financing issue then you need to try to trade it at the dealer or with another dealer. Otherwise, you will be facing a repossession if you just return the car.
